Introducing the Qualitest Internship Program – a journey designed to translate ideas into functional realities. Here at Qualitest, we are dedicated to offering opportunities that nurture passion, foster dedication, and ignite a hunger for learning. Our program empowers participants to tackle real-world challenges, craft innovative solutions, and bridge the divide between theory and practice.

The Qualitest Internship Program – unveiling the experience

Over the past couple of years, Qualitest America’s CTO, Vikul Gupta, has been the driving force behind Qualitest’s Internship Program. He’s been on a mission to give interns a real taste of what it takes to build software and deliver projects – covering everything from gathering requirements to making sure things get done on time.

“I am amazed by the passion, knowledge, and hunger to learn that this batch of interns has displayed,” says Vikul, “From Web Applications and Data Science to Generative AI, nothing was impossible for them.”

And guess what? We’re not stopping here. We’re planning to bring in even more interns over the next few years. We’re committed to helping young talent grow and creating an environment where learning never stops.

Meet the interns

We had a chat with the interns, and they shared how the program not only boosted their technical abilities but also sharpened their teamwork and communication skills. You can catch the full review of the Qualitest Internship Program with Brandon, Dustin, Archit, and Geric below.

Brandon Cotton, a Computer Science major from North Carolina A&T State University, handled the backend of the project, skillfully crafting APIs in response to user requests. On the other end, Dustin Runkel, who is presently studying at SHNU, worked on the front end. When asked about his experience, Dustin says, “Every aspect was entirely new to me, and the satisfaction of piecing everything together and achieving a functional outcome felt truly rewarding.”

In the AI Team, Virginia Tech’s Archit Gupta built a dynamic front-end and back-end application, designed for Qualitest’s internal operations. Sharing his experience, Archit says, “This internship has been an enriching experience, bringing me closer to my dream of becoming a full-stack developer.”

Geric Pan, newly graduated from the University of Michigan, contributed to the backend, specializing in SQL database management and data preprocessing, adding a crucial layer to the team’s efforts.

Beyond technical learning

When it comes to learning beyond technology, Brandon points out that the program has enhanced his communication skills. “I’ve noticed an improvement in my ability to address groups,” he says, “The daily standups really helped us organize our thoughts about what we were doing and what we were having trouble with.”

Geric’s biggest takeaway was the process of ideation and brainstorming, “We’d go through everyone’s opinion on what should be done and bring that all together to create a finalized idea.”

Archit highlights that what has benefitted him the most is learning to collaborate with multiple teams and meeting deadlines through teamwork. Meanwhile, Dustin found satisfaction in solving real-world problems and translating requirements into code.

Real-time project experience

“I learned various frameworks such as React and Streamlit, which heavily relies on Python,” shares Archit while discussing his project experience. Brandon mentions that he was familiar with Postman but hadn’t used it prior to the Program. Additionally, he gained proficiency in building APIs, a skill he didn’t have before. Geric admits that he had limited knowledge of NLP at the start of the program, but he seized the opportunity to explore how computers comprehend speech and language.

Embraced by the Qualitest family

Archit shares his experiences of working with teams across Qualitest. “When they say you’re a part of the Qualitest family, they really mean it. We worked with so many different teams and always felt welcomed.”

Advice to those wanting to join the Qualitest Internship Program

Brandon’s advice for those wanting to join the Qualitest Internship Program is, “It’s going to be incredibly challenging, but the rewards are equally incredible.” Building on that sentiment, Geric adds, “The initial phase can be tough, especially if you’re starting with limited knowledge, but as you approach the end of the program, you’ll realize how much you’ve grown. The team is fantastic, with wonderful people.”

“It’s worth it,” concludes Brandon.
