“Hokey religions and ancient weapons are no match for a good blaster at your side, kid.”*

So uncivilized, but so awesome

Your tender has been placed with the major suppliers, ‘BlasTech Industries’, ‘Merr-Sonn Munitions Inc.’, ‘SoroSuub Corporation’ and ‘Czerka Arms’ for the next generation of blasters to equip your force with. Before you enter in to a contract you will want to test the samples provided to confirm that they meet your needs. This is where the Qualitest Technology Centre (“QTC”) Blaster Test Facility** comes in.

The QTC Blaster Test Facility provides a self-contained test facility that allows you to put the sample blasters through their paces without the need for investment in your own test facility.

Using the manufactures specifications, the QTC Blaster Test Facility is able to verify that the products supplied are able to meet the tender specification.

Range

Is the blaster able to reach the range advertised and still have the ability to deliver the punch required? At the QTC Blaster Test Facility this will be tested. The facility allows for the full spectrum of blaster ranges to be tested and records the hitting power at each range.

Shots per Power Pack

How many shots are you actually able to get per power pack? The QTC will be able to determine this for you. A new power pack will be tested from full to empty, the power packs will be recharged and the test repeated. This test will be repeated a number of times to confirm the capacity of the power cells through its life.

Rate of Fire

Single shot or rapid fire, all of  the manufactures will make claims about the rate of fire that their blaster is able to achieve. At the QTC, the blasters will be put through their paces to see that they are able to achieve the advertised rate of fire, not just once but over an extended period of time. A single test run will not provide a true indication of its capability.

Accuracy

Being able to provide a curtain of fire to keep heads down is one thing but accuracy counts. If you are not able to hit what you want then the blaster is nothing but an uncivilized tool. The blasters will be tested to confirm that they are able to achieve the specified accuracy at the specified ranges.

Construction

The construction of the blasters will be tested to confirm that it meets the supplier’s specification and your needs as described within the tender documentation.

Using the wide range of skills available at the QTC the following construction testing will be provided:

  • Vibration – Put through a full set of shake rattle and roll tests.
  • Environment – Is it able to work in the cold, hot, dusty, humid and/or dry conditions?
  • Drop Test – Your blaster has just been dropped, does it still work or has it fallen apart?
  • Submersion – Your blaster has been dropped in a puddle, has it fused or will it fire?
  • Post Test Construction Verification – Following the completion of the testing, the blaster will be inspected to confirm that it is still able to function on the battle field.

Blaster Test Conclusion

Following the completion of the testing, a full report will be provided detailing all of the tests that we have conducted and the results. You may now make an informed decision knowing that you have received well-formed advice from an independent source.

The Qualitest Technology Centre (“QTC”)

Sadly we don’t actually have a Star Wars Blaster Test Facility and you probably don’t need to test blasters. However, we do have the Qualitest Technology Centre that is able to provide an Off-Site, On-Shore, test facility that provides  the best in class testing capability from our own premises. This enables us to provide flexible and cost efficient means of testing to our clients.

Innovation such as the QTC is one of the reasons Gartner has recognised Qualitest as the only Visionary QA and Testing Service Company in the “Gartner Magic Quadrant” for the second year in a row.

*Han Solo, to Luke Skywalker on the supposed advantages of a blaster over a lightsaber.

** Please note that the “QTC Blaster Test Facility” is entirely fictional but the QTC is real and we will efficiently, effectively and ruthlessly test blasters if required…possibly in costume.
