On January 27, 2015, Yaron Kottler, CEO of QualiTest US, was featured on an episode of “Talk Ten Tuesdays”. This podcast, hosted by Chuck Buck, is aired every Tuesday by ICD10monitor, providing an online news and information source to help healthcare providers make informed decisions as they transition to ICD-10.

This Tuesday featured a variety of different healthcare professionals, including: Mr. Kottler; Rhonda Buckholtz, CPC, CPMA, CPC-I, CHPSE, CENTC, COBGC; Betty Gomez; Robert S. Gold, MD; and Beth Malchetske, RHIA, MBA.

The purpose of this particular episode was to discuss “Monitoring the progress of end to end ICD-10 testing”, as the government-legislated beginning date of October 2015 looms in the future. Each guest who spoke during the show had different viewpoints to attribute to ICD-10 Testing, including how it affects the healthcare systems, claims management service providers, and the doctors themselves.

Betty Gomez, Regulatory Strategist at Zirmed, advocated for organizations to begin the ICD-10 test process by saying, “When the deadline was pushed back, we had payers who were ready for testing and didn’t want to pause to wait until the last minute. As providers, they built confidence by continuing the testing process.”

Mr. Kottler finished the discussion by discussing ICD-10 testing from a technical point of view, as he discussed different assets and tools associated with ICD-10 Testing. He discussed the triumphs that QualiTest has encountered with ICD-10 testing, including the integration of a “golden data set” of records with accelerators to decrease the time of testing and get real end to end testing from internal and external EHR systems.

The podcast ended with the results of a survey entitled “How Prepared is your Organization for end-to-end-Testing?”, provided by ICD-10 Monitor. The outcome displayed that 14% had completed ICD-10 testing, 16% had begun testing, 16% is prepared to start in the first quarter of 2015, 17% is prepared to start in the 2nd quarter of 2015, and 14% is not sure when they will be ready to start.
