Surendra Gupta is one of our accessibility specialists and a highly competent Qualitester from India.

With a deep passion for accessibility, he dedicates a significant portion of his time to testing and exploring a wide range of applications and websites.

Areas of expertise

Surendra possesses extensive expertise in the accessibility domain, adeptly utilizing ARIA techniques, ADA, and WCAG standards, as well as popular screen readers such as JAWS, NVDA, Microsoft Narrator for Windows, TalkBack for Android devices, and VoiceOver for Apple devices. His proficiency extends beyond accessibility tools, encompassing a solid foundation in C# and HTML.

What made him choose a career in testing

Surendra’s journey into software testing and technology was unexpected. As a child, he longed to explore computers but was forbidden from touching the family’s Windows PC. Reflecting on those times, Surendra shares, “I had never imagined I would be able to operate a computer or touch-based smartphones.”

Attending a blind school in Delhi changed everything! Introducing him to a Windows 98 computer opened a new world of possibilities. Surendra quickly learned to navigate the computer with screen readers. As his education progressed, Surendra faced another hurdle—a lack of braille textbooks in college. Determined to overcome this, he bought his own laptop.

These experiences and his genuine interest in exploring the accessibility of various websites led to a career in IT and accessibility testing.

Software testing and the Qualitest journey

In February 2013, Surendra received an interview opportunity from QA InfoTech (later acquired by Qualitest in February 2021) and was delighted to secure the position. Since then, he has been an integral part of the Qualitest team, continually contributing his expertise in accessibility testing.
