Jessica Hose is a test engineer living in Washington State, USA. She is a driven and empathetic individual with a passion for all things artistic and a love for coordination in tech-centric roles.
Jessica thrives when she feels challenged, and endeavors to push out of her comfort zone so she can know herself better and grow to be the best version of herself.
“I love embracing what the world has to offer, both professionally and personally. Discovering new things and getting to know new people is vital to develop wisdom and understanding,” says Jessica. This belief drives Jessica to seek new opportunities as she grows older, always striving to learn and grow along the way.
“I’m passionate about art and its involvement in tech”, shares Jessica, who has had impactful experiences with VR implementations. She witnessed firsthand the effect of VR the Seattle Public Library utilizes for educational purposes. Moreover, her involvement with VR initiatives for the Make-a-Wish Foundation showcased how technology has the power to positively impact people’s lives. Jessica firmly believes in the transformative potential of these programs and devices, acknowledging their capacity to bring about significant change in the world. Grateful for the opportunity to contribute, she reflects, “I’m incredibly lucky to be a part of that.”
Jessica reflects on her journey since joining Q Analysts (now Qualitest), approximately 8-9 months ago. “Within that time, I’ve grown significantly and acquired a range of skills that I aim to nurture for years to come,” she says. Jessica has embraced versatility by exploring various roles, including the development of the Logistics Coordinator’s Master Tracker, a tool that would have a master list of all the people who showed up every day, making it easier for Jessica and her team to find individuals, manage studies, and handle payments all in one place, in a concise manner.
Additionally, Jessica has had the opportunity to contribute to diverse projects, engaging in tasks such as data collection and quality control.
“Solving complex issues or getting really into the rhythm of how a program functions can be very rewarding,” Jessica reflects. She acknowledges that in the field of IT, there’s always more to learn, and continual opportunity to learn from amazing people.
Jessica graduated from the Academy of Interactive Entertainment, majoring in Game Art and Animation. Her degree has significantly benefited her work at Qualitest, allowing her to utilize her expertise in video game development as well as her specialization in VR/AR technology. This unique combination of skills enables her to enhance educational experiences and improve accessibility for children with physical limitations.
“I grew up in a very accepting family, but many people around me didn’t”, Jessica shares about her growing-up years. She watched her friends struggle to come to terms with their sexual orientation or gender identity.
Jessica noticed that many people around her grew up feeling uncomfortable with others knowing who they were. “Many were scared of the way people would see them or had internalized the prejudice they had seen in others.”
As she got older, Jessica witnessed the personal growth of those around her, and she realized the importance of pride in embracing one’s true self. Reflecting on her own journey, she says, “Pride celebrates the struggles of self-acceptance while providing an opportunity to support others facing similar challenges.” Jessica recognizes Pride as a time for building relationships and celebrating the community’s diversity.
As someone who also took a long time to get to know and accept herself, her gender, and her sexuality, Jessica remains thankful for the supportive people around her and hopes that others in the community receive the respect and care they deserve.
Jessica expresses her thoughts on Pride and its connection to Qualitest, “Qualitest has consistently displayed remarkable acceptance towards the LGBTQ+ community. It’s truly heartening to be surrounded by colleagues who wholeheartedly support one another.”
Jessica also highlights the significance of Qualipride as an avenue for initiating conversations with coworkers about participation in Pride events and finding ways to express individuality while showing support. Jessica believes that such initiatives foster a sense of unity and inclusivity within the workplace.
Jessica’s advice is to learn from peers, to listen, collaborate, and support one another. She believes that each team member has an in-depth understanding of their specific role and contributions to the project, stating, “Each person who contributes to a team knows their part of the project’s needs and contributions better than anyone else.”
While Jessica loves traveling and taking an insanely large number of photos of her adventures, she also loves coming home to her dog and cats, as she misses them when she’s on the go.
Jessica is also an avid reader. She recollects an instance when she got into trouble at school for reading books during class. Some of her favorite books include “Strange the Dreamer,” “Circe,” and “The Hobbit.”
“Having attended a dance academy for a decade, I’ve developed a strong passion for dance,” Jessica shares. Although she no longer pursues it, she still seeks opportunities to dance occasionally. In recent years, Jessica has immersed herself in the world of Dungeons and Dragons, playing the game with close friends on weekends. She also strives to prioritize her fitness by dedicating more time to the gym and learning boxing. Art has been a constant presence in her life, so she diligently hones her drawing and 3D modeling skills whenever possible. Collaborating with others to create captivating interactive items and creatures, especially in VR, brings her immense joy.
