Our client, Unisfair, a leader in virtual events, is a webcast interface, designed to provide a complete conference experience for consumers over the internet. The platform provides virtual business environments and enables attendees to join live broadcasts.
The client needed to identify issues encountered in the “real world” that affected the quality of the broadcasts, specifically focusing on elements such as the smoothness of transitions and the general user functionality and experience throughout the broadcasts.
Qualitest’s test approach provided the client with access to real world testers simulating realistic test conditions. Testers had watched the broadcast and interacted where relevant, raising issues as they came across them. Testers were based in the UK and US and were coordinated to test during a 1 hour set window using a variety of devices including iPhones, Android Galaxies and Android Tablets. There was an additional hour window allowing testers to raise further issues encountered, giving maximum test coverage and efficiency.
The professional testers identified a number of issues which may have gone un-noticed by an internal test team. These included issues with a YouTube video not playing although the sound was running, there were issues in which responses to questions were hidden behind screen shares and forums were cut off in portrait mode. The defects identified were spread across various areas of the functionality. Testers provided steps and demonstrated how to reproduce the defects raised, as well as giving indication of reproducibility of other issues raised by other testers.
The goal was to expand the range of tester locations in order to provide a greater indication of the stability and confidence in the platform, and ensure full understanding of how the product behaves in realistic environments. Additionally, continuing to work collaboratively to completely understand the requirements going forward, enabling the team to become experts within the product.
