Qualitest Implements SaaS Test Management Tools as Part of Showing Regulatory Compliance
It’s never a one–size–fits–all approach for test tooling and often a low cost JIRA based solution will suffice. However, in this case the regulatory requirement to demonstrate compliance through all aspects of the testing process led us to recommend HP ALM.

The Qualitest Solution
A key aspect of any regulatory program is to be able to evidence the work done to the regulator, so one of our first recommendations was to implement an appropriate quality management tool. After a comprehensive assessment that formed part of the test strategy phase, Qualitest recommended the use of HP Application Lifecycle Management (HP ALM) to be deployed via “Software as a Service”. This all encompassing solution was the right fit for our client’s needs in terms of both logistics and cost models.
Our team managed the deployment process for HP ALM on behalf of our client, ensuring that the correct versions of Microsoft tools were in place to get the maximum value from the system. We designed and implemented a custom configuration of HP ALM which exactly met the client’s needs for Solvency II compliance. Throughout the engagement, we administered ALM for our client, ensuring that it was used as designed and that it contained the auditable evidence needed to demonstrate compliance to the regulator.
- Effective and efficient capture of the evidence necessary to demonstrate regulatory compliance for Solvency II
- Real time reporting on test progress
- Automated testing and defect metrics capture
- Flexible and cost effective SaaS tool solution
“[Qualitest] provided a detailed tool assessment and recommended the right tool for our organization which aligned perfectly with the test strategy they designed and implemented for Solvency II program.” — Nic , Program Manager
